Wow! So I'm not a fan of this genre at all, but I'm blown away by this title. It's got great graphics and sound (if you don't mind the cuteness), the controls and gameplay are smooth and practically flawless. And the game modes bring everything you'd expect to a game like this.
What ties the game together for me are the missions. You have a story mode, and survival mode, and behind them both you have active missions, basic accomplishments that can be achieved in either mode (such as collect 50 health packs, kill 100 green aliens, kill 5 aliens with grenades). The ability to accomplish the missions in either game mode allow you to choose the mode you think is best suited to the mission. And the story missions can be replayed, so you even get to choose the story setting you accomplish the mission in. The point of the missions is to get the prize, usually a large enough monetary sum.
I'd hesitated purchasing the game because of the genre, and because I'd read complaints that you really needed to spend real money to get enough in-game money to make purchases. It did seem a slow process to raise money at first, until I discovered the missions. The mission rewards are what you can rely on to raise your funds.
The only thing I don't like is that the levelling up that you do on each stage is reset once the stage is completed. But considering that you keep the guns that you purchase, and the upgrades you buy for them, it's not a huge drawback. I'm adding this game to my Top 5, without removing any, so now it's a Top 6, coz that's how I roll.
There's a button above your left virtual stick for stimpacks, and one above your right virtual stick for grenades. They can be tricky to press if your virtual sticks are unlocked. - 12-01-2012, 11:50 AM #8
Any one feel like posting Survival scores and strategies? The second place score on my list is from using the shotgun (which can kill a red octopus one shot up close), no upgrades, one nuke equipped. Perks I focused on were reload speed, fire rate, unstoppable (so that enemies don't slow you when you get caught in a swarm), more bonus drops, more effective healing, longer lasting cold vengeance, running speed, and higher health. I run around the map in a wide circle, over and over, focusing on picking up health packs and vengeance bonuses.
The first place score is with a fully upgraded shotgun, same strategy as above. - 12-03-2012, 07:30 AM #9
Well, booo! Looks like I'm the only one competing. This next list of scores is for the first world, earned using the rocket launcher. At any level of upgrade, it's a one-shot kill at any distance, damaging surrounding enemies aswell. It can also do minor damage to you if it explodes too close. My perk priorities are, damage reduction self (negates the damage it does to you), more bonus items, unstoppable, longer vengeance, easy orb pickup, regeneration, then speed-ups on fire rate, reload, and running (in that order, though you may not get the choice depending on which perks are made available after each level-up). I also make an effort to pick up as much money as possible (averaging about 700$ per round of survival), and picking up orbs (your score multiplier) is critical.
Note that when you get to this score range, the game can get pretty unplayable, with anywhere between 200 and 300 enemies coming at you at once, by my estimation. The frame rate drops significantly, and the game gets super choppy. Not bad considering it's running on a tablet, speaks well of the PlayBook.Last edited by KidCaboose; 12-03-2012 at 08:03 AM.

Here are my latest scores! Shame there isn't a scoreloop feature to the game. As far as I remember all of these were achieved solely with a fully upgraded rocket launcher. I haven't tried the fourth world yet, and I'm still saving up for the the chaingun.
