Ok the devs for this app used to do a great job on this forum so hopefully they will see this.
The app ever since I updated to 4.2 a few days ago is not working. All I get is an x on the display after the map loads. It does not track me and when you touch the x you get no options. I drive 50,000 miles a year and need this app to work. Please help get this working for me.

Change your zoom level. It is what I needed to do to get the mapping back.

The developer added user preferences for Layering. The default Layers that you were used to are unfortunately OFF in 4.2.0. To fix:

1. Bezel swipe down from the top
2. Select the Settings gear
3. Select Layers on the left
4. Highlight My Location (which shows where you are) and Pick (allows the long press to get options)
5. Select Save

So KennethD. In hindsight do you think it was fair to title your thread 'Magellan compass 4.2 is broke' when in fact it was "navigator error"?

Do you think that the "note" that Magellan Compass included advising that they put things in layers should have been read first by the "navigator" before the "post" button was clicked?

I am not trying to be mean. But, I find it extremely painful and frustrating when threads are incorrectly titled and outright wrong.

I am glad you got it working. It is a great app for only $4.99.

Thanks KennethD for coming back and closing out the thread.

I've never had one of those GPS devices in my car and thought Magellan Compass was a great value at $4.99. However, I've yet to trust it enough with the voice prompts to use it. The mapping works great, but the voice prompts just aren't ready, in my opinion. The turn notifications usually come too early (1/2, 1/4 mile mark) or too late (already at the intersection or in the midst of the turn). There are times that the GPS location gets confused and prompts me to do a u-turn, even though I'm on a straight-away stretch of the route. That said, the developers are really great about keeping this app updated and enhanced. Even though I don't use it, I feel the investment was worth it for the developers' continued support.

It's broke if there is a change by the devs that causes it to not work like it has after every update in the past.

There was no note that I saw.

I use the app and if its not easy or changes its method of use with out notification I call that broke. So yes the title stands.

Someone thankfully told me how to fix it.
