    Is there an app that will record keystrokes without having to run openly?
    Carrier controlled updates is the worst smartphone spec of them all

    Yes there is. Not realy an App but more like an OS. Its called android and runs on way to many phones.

    It is just like a keylogger, record all keystrokes, call logs, text messages, web history and so on.

    Dont think it is possible to make such an app, let alone having it approved on appworld :P
