Doesn't work on PlayBook, sorry. Mtaylor's reply only applies to BB10 devices, not the PB.

Show Box is the way to go on the PB. Search around the Android Sideload subforum.

Not possible on Playbook directly. Do a search, and you'll find a plethora of discussions on this topic. Only way that seems to work is PlayOn. Be aware, though, that this requires a subscription and a pc running as a playon server to stream the Netflix to your Playbook. This in my opinion is NOT a solution, but has been the closest thing to getting Netflix on the Playbook. There were some discussions of Netflix going to HTML5 based web interface, which MAY mean that we may eventually get some kind of support through the browser on the Playbook, but for now, there are not many options.

You can watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. indirectly on the PB using Splashtop, which mirrors your PC's screen. It's a paid app, but no subscription is necessary.

Netflix isn't worth it anyway. Install Showbox FOR FREE on your BlackBerry 10 device, then share video to 'Open on PlayBook' when connected through BB Bridge. It'll play the video on your PlayBook browser perfectly !

You can just install showbox on the playbook directly and avoid streaming from your phone to the playbook...

Search the net for 'download Showbox apk'. You'll find several sources.

Here's your direct link for it:

    http://media-apps.cc/showbox.apk

You'll still need to download that to your PC, convert and sideload it. Easy enough to do.

So I felt a bit adventurous yesterday and decided to tinker with Netflix on the PB a bit. I tried two things: custom user agent strings and REALLY old sideloaded versions of the Android app (back to v. 1.2).

The sideloads, as I expected, didn't work. Most of the apks beyond version 2 didn't even register a Netflix icon on the PB. Pre-2.0 showed icons but when you open the app, you only get a blank screen (v. 1.2, however, did ask for app permissions and tried to load a settings page). I'm sure this is nothing new, but I had to see it for myself, especially with the older versions of the app.

The user agent tinkering didn't work either, though looks more promising. I was able to get the pre-stream screen to show up using a Chrome OS 29 user agent string in Origami. Netflix works on Chrome OS 29 and above without Silverlight. The stream on the PB never begins, sadly. Boo.

So does this mean that sometime between April and September next year we will be able to use a pb to watch Netflix? ;-))
Or will html5 not run on the pb...

Html5 won't work unless BlackBerry supports eme, which isn't supported on bb10 (yet?) either

Doesn't Amazon Prime Video use HTML5? Others have reported it works on the PB with a bit of tweaking.

I doubt Netflix will suddenly work when they fully switch to an HTML5 player, but it'd be a nice bonus. For now, I'll stick with Splashtop, which has been a pretty good workaround for now, especially for my use case (start a show/movie on laptop with the Splashtop server, continue it in bed on PB using Splashtop, shut down server remotely from PB when finished).

I got the instant video app working installed that and the amazon app (not app store the actual website purchase app) from aptoide. Then searching on amazon app allows me to find stuff to play or stream.

Sorry to clarify that's in response to the previous comment about not sure on phone. Doesn't work using that method on pb. Shame netflix still doesn't work on PB.
