    Default Evade

    Hi!
I would like to present you a small game I made for playbook.
It is called evade, you play as blue box and your goal is to avoid pink squares for as long as you can.
    Few screenschots:

    You can download it here:
Buy Evade - Download Evade - Buy Games from BlackBerry App World

P.S. Right now it is very basic - but for each 10$ earned on it I will prepare update with new features :P

It looks very basic. What kind of new features are you thinking about?

Yeah, it doesn't look very exciting.

Additional enemy types, changable game difficulty, special configurations of pink squares to avoid, eye-candy'ing (animated background reflecting the current time, death/movement animation, extra graphics), scoreloop integration, more complex sound effects, optional gyroscope controls, different game boards.

For a paid game, I can't help but feel that those features should already be included, rather than feeling like I'm investing in the potential for a more complete game. I think it's great that you're developing for the PlayBook, i just don't see enough people buying your game to bring all those features to fruition.

I haven't played the game, but it looks like it's got no depth. I've got a handful of simple, enjoyable games on my PlayBook right now. I keep them because of the replay value, not only is the gameplay satisfying, but the game develops over time, through levelling up, and unlockables and such. I want to be able to evolve that blue square like a Tamagatchi, i want it to gain abilities and functions, i want it to meet other blue squares to chat and trade stuff, I want different environments based on the difficulty or my mood, I want to explore environments and find hidden loot, I want to build something for my blue square that will benefit it, I want something to be happening when I'm not playing the game that makes me look forward to playing it again.

Any of those features would be pretty cool.

It is awesome that you support playbook. however I agree with another poster that it is better to put all those stuff in it. I rather pay $1.99 vs 99c and get full featured game. Maybe then Rim will put it as featured title and you will get hundreds sales.

Yeah, it doesn't have a "deapth" because, even full feature packed, it is at its core an arcade game. And this means that the purpose to play is to get a higher score, or to compete with your friends. Your ideas are really interesting, and thanks for sharing them, but imho they don't fit here. Lets take for example the snake game. Adding a character customisation, levelling, trading, looting actually would make it worse - because it distract from what is a true fun that this game offers, a pursuit for the high score.
There is a reason why most people consider the first broadly known version of this game from old nokia phones the best one - not all that funky clones that appeared later.

And at the top of that, thouse features would require really a lot of work - more like for a team of >10 programmers, designers, graphics than one student that do this in a free time.
Anyway, thanks for checking it out and the opinions - I hope that my next games will have a much more "wow" factor :P
