Default ES File Explorer saving files locally but where?

I sideloaded ES File Explorer thinking I could stream some of my media files from my computer to my playbook. I thought I could save storage that way. Today, I discovered that pictures I viewed from my desktop LAN are stored locally. Of my file utilities, only File Manager from PB could see them, but they are stored on the PB. It took me a bit to realize they are not part of the PB file system. They get stored on the android side, which you can view when connected via usb cable.

Someone recommended ES File Explorer and thought it would be a way to save space on the PB. It can do. But you have to manage the .tmp file it creates manually.

They're most likely not the pictures that are being stored, but rather thumbnails of the pictures that you viewed, and thus take up very little space (you can verify this by opening one of the pics with file manager- they'll be low res). They're likely located in sdcard/DCIM/thumbnails.

No, it's true, ES File Explorer stores the full pictures locally. They're here: /misc/android/Android/data/com.estrongs.android.pop/tmp/remoteimg.

Thanks for the path. And I have at last realized that in Es File Explorer under Settings/Files there is a toggle to clear cache or not on exit. I wish I had a 64gig machine. And I am old enough to be stingy with memory.

A very useful app all told.
