Hi, all.

Lately I've been looking for a Canadian news app. I've tried a few apps from BB World, but they are either buggy or tend to focus on US/world news.

Ones I've tried:
News360 (love the interface, but no CA options)
TapTu (works well with CA news, but sometimes freezes)
News Republic (same as News360)

I haven't ventured far into Android apps. I have an RSS reader (D7 reader) which I've added a few CBC feeds to, but you have to "mobilize" each article to see the whole text (minor, but annoying).

In terms of interface, I'd prefer an app similar to News360, if one exists. (Left-hand nav bar with headlines; click headlines and view the articles within the app.)

Any recommendations are appreciated!

Try CBC news.

The CBC news app is native and awesome. Gives you local news (using your GPS location) as well as national news. Great app. Give it a try, you won't be disapointed.

Thanks, guys. I think I tried this app on the first day I bought my PB and promptly deleted. Revisiting, though, it's pretty good (always a fan of native PB apps).

One annoyance: clicking a video link opens the CBC site within the app, and there's no way (that I see) to navigate back to the articles. Having the left hand nav bar would make this a pretty perfect app for my purposes.

Still, I can see myself using this for reading. Thanks for the recommendation!

Have you tried the Globe and Mail app? It is my favorite on the PlayBook

I had never tried the Globe app before, no. Just gave it a whirl last night and very much enjoyed it! Thanks a lot for the recommendation!

Also, if you look under the Android section, Koz converted the latest News360 app. I'll try it later today and report back; hoping that the developers added a few Canadian news sources!

I fund the National Post app to be adequate. It makes a good complement to the Glabe and Mail app. Also, the Ottawa Citizen's app is pretty good but obviously has more of a focus on Ottawa.

Found in BBW, aside from CBC News and Globe News as mentioned already, you can also try CTV News. All 3 have plenty of Canadian content.

Any reason you wouldn't use news.google.ca? You can customize the content which gets displayed, and the interface isn't bad to use on the PB. Just a thought...I know sometimes apps can be more convenient, though.
