    Hello,

I just bought a Blackberry Playbook. It is running OS Version 2.1.0.1917. I want to install the Amazon App Store on the Playbook like I did on my Q10. I followed the instructions at crackberry.com/how-get-android-apps-blackberry-amazon-appstore I can download the .APK file but the Playbook will not open the file. I go to the Downloads Folder and select Open App and nothing happens. These steps worked fine on my Q10 but not on the Playbook.

Not going to work on the PlayBook. The Android runtime on the PlayBook is far too old.

What Blaize said. It's a pretty crippled Android 2.3.3 runtime, though I've been able to get some apps to work well (Crackle, RSS readers, etc.)

Are there any particular apps you're trying to get working? Hit up the forum and some of us may be able to help. Also, Goodereader is the most complete source for apps that "may" work on the PB.

    Thanks

No there was nothing special I was after. On my Q10 I like browsing through the Amazon App Store to try things out. So far on the Q10 there was nothing that I kept yet but I may find something that I do and would like to put it on the Playbook.

To make this more useful to future readers I tweaked the title a little.

I've installed it on my Playbook and it works. Problem is that he apps are Apk and not BAR. So while it does work, the apps won't install.

I installed it on my Playbook. The icon is there, I had no errors installing it, but it crashes each time I try to open it. I assume, as Bla1ze said, that the Amazon API on the PBook is too old.

I guess there's no way to update just the Amazon API. So it was worth a shot, but no go.

Doesn't matter if you can get it installed/working or not. The BB10 OS is able to install apks directly, without the need to convert to bar. Playbook does not have this ability, so the Amazon store would not be useful on this device.

What you can do though is browse Amazon App Store with BB10 device. Download the file but don't install. Upload the file to apk2bar then shoot it from the phone to the PB using Barinstall.

    Some work some don't.
