We now have two Playbooks in my home.

Do I need to buy 2 separate copies of each app I would like to have on both machines? Or is there a way to share them?

I think unless you have the same BBID on both PlayBooks, then you will need to purchase the same apps again.

use the same BBID between the PB's you will be asked if PB id#124578 is acosiated with you account. reply yes and share all apps

If you share the BBID, you offcourse will be able to share all the apps bought on any one of the device. However you wont be able to do video chat between the devices if you want to, that needs different BBID on each PB.
