Is there any specific area that isn't registering a touch properly?
Would like to fix this. I haven't noticed this bug yet.
Campaign button takes a long time to load (which I have been trying to improve). - 05-16-2012, 10:24 AM #103
Mostly drop down menu items. Once in a while something goes a bit wonky in popup screens like recruit or recall screens. Usually, if they highlight, its just slow responding, but otherwise, if the button doesnt highlight, I have to use my bridge remote to get it to function correctly. Maybe its a problem with low memory on my end? I just looked at the about>hardware and its showing 394.3M free memory. I have stuff and stuff on my pb. Its only 16gig :s

Hey just bought it from appworld.
Could you make the edges, there u scroll the map with ur finger a little broader.
U know when u go to an edge to scroll through the map, could make it scroll a lil earlier?
Yeah and the only other problem i hav is the lack of speed in multiplayer, oh and sometimes the option to open game in multiplayer isnt shown, like anything in the uppern edge. There is only black and if u go with ur finger there the things somehow, sometimes appear.
I would really like to help u, if u need help of student of mathematics in 2nd semestra. I only had 2 courses of Java, yet but if u hav some minor work i would give it a try.

If you swipe down from top you can see the scrolling bars. I tried to make these smaller so they didn't interfere with on-screen elements. You should be able to just touch your finger where the bar is and it scrolls in that direction.
Yes, some elements will 'disappear'. I'm trying to track this down.Yeah and the only other problem i hav is the lack of speed in multiplayer, oh and sometimes the option to open game in multiplayer isnt shown, like anything in the uppern edge. To workaround this, just hold your finger down and run it across where the buttons should be and they should appear.
The old multiplayer lobby was much worse :P
To increase speed in the lobby, make sure you click 'Vacant Spots' in the filter. If the game has to show 50 or so games it can get very laggy. Also working on this :P - 07-03-2012, 03:29 AM #107
Hey xsacha,
I just wanted to drop you a line to maybe clarify some issues I had reported earlier. One of the issues was menu button presses that weren't registering correctly. I actually had to send my pb off to rma to get it fixed because the screen eventually became totally non responsive. I just got it back. So, that may or may not have been an actual bug. Im going to be downloading Wesnoth again, but this time via app world. Ive been using the free version you have graciously posted here. I thank you very much for that.
There is one other issue that I noticed while trying to get my pb backed up and ready for shipment to rma. Much of the graphics of the game itself ended up showing up when I would try to browse through my pictures. I don't know if this was left over from a previous iteration of Wesnoth that I hadn't cleaned up or what the problem was. Again, as soon as its installed, I can report back. I just wanted to give a quick heads up and let you know I haven't forgotten. - 07-03-2012, 03:35 AM

Yeah those are left over images from an earlier version. The new versions don't put images separately
.
The mouse presses work first time every time here. Keep note that clicking 'Campaign' will take 2-3 seconds to render the menu. This is due to the framework from the original developers that was designed to make menus easy to write (for non-developers). I tried re-architecturing this but it's a massive job. - 07-06-2012, 12:15 AM #110
xsacha, I got it loaded on my playbook from app world, and runs pretty flawlessly. The only glitch I've found is during the credits, when i try to close the screen, the app freezes. Just an FYI

Technically, yes, the command-line works.
But how would you access it?
The only possible way I can see is to install the app as debug mode, then run a terminal app and CD to the appropriate directory. Then you can run it from command line, but it won't have graphics privileges (so nothing will appear). - 03-19-2013, 05:13 PM #114
What a great game - my favourite on PB so far.
Quick question: on the story screens between missions, are there supposed to be images above the story text. I see the story text and the left/right arrows and the skip button but above is just a big black screen. I have seen some screenshots of the Battle for Wesnoth on android and it looks like there were supposed to be images here. Not sure if the PB version just couldn't use them for some reason.
Cheers. - 04-11-2013, 04:37 PM #115
This would be wonderful if it was as free as the proper version. Sadly your download link doesn't actually work so the only way to acquire it is to buy it in the store, especially since you've been so kind as to provide us all with approximately ******* zero alternative download locations. So yeah. Thanks.

Yes, how DARE Sacha put in the effort to port this to the BlackBerry and then not take proactive and continuous action to GAURANTEE that we pay NOTHING to enjoy his efforts. How DARE he let for even a second the download link lapse, which might require some of us to spend a WHOLE $3 DOLLARS, equivalent to 20 MINUTES of work at a MINIMUM WAGE job!You should be ashamed of yourself Sacha!/end ridiculously obvious sarcasm

They do when they outright promise me something. Download this game for free! Except btw there isn't anywhere to actually download it for free, because false advertising. It's a disgrace to the legacy of Battle For Wesnoth that the only way to acquire it is by buying it, and even more so when you pretend it's available for free too then sabotage the download links.

Sorry, I didn't realise the link was broken. Will upload a new one.
I did not 'sabotage' the download links. It is notoriously difficult to upload 300MB files on the internet. It seems that Minus removed my file (though it appears as if it exists).
Filefactory recently emailed me telling me that they have increased file upload sizes, so I will use them.
I've made some changes to the UI that hopefully improve how it works and it is compiled with a newer compiler.
Edit: Unfortunately it's not compiling right now, so I'll just upload the PB and BB10 versions that are on the BB World.
Edit: Ok, found the issue. Compiling and will upload on first post.Last edited by xsacha; 04-11-2013 at 10:04 PM.

Well now I'm mollified. Thank you very much for fixing this problem and I apologise for my brusque demeanour. I wasn't really expecting any response let alone a full fix of the problem. Playing Battle For Wesnoth on my new Playbook was one of the things I was most looking forward to so I was really disappointed that the links weren't working.
What's the difference between the BB10 and Playbook version? Both seem to be .bar files and compatible with Playbook.
Edit: Never mind, BB10 version doesn't work with Playbook.Last edited by Irritated User; 04-11-2013 at 11:17 PM.

There you go, the PB version is up now
.
wesnoth-PB.bar - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com
Most of the stuff I do is free (no ads or anything). Like Dingleberry, PlayConnect, Sachup, PPSSPP, etc.
Wesnoth is just extremely time-consuming to compile, test and upload. It was also a challenge to make it installable in a single .bar file (because installs can 'time out' and can only have a certain number of files). I originally offered a version on this forum thread that required installing a small .BAR and then extracting a .zip on to your device. Some people on here said they would pay for a version that was easily installable off App World, so I worked on that.
If you don't mind side-loading it, then that is probably the best option
.

Saves and add-ons from previous iteration do not work, just as a heads up
