I just found BASIC programming language for the playbook in app world, BASIC for BlackBerry PlayBook - BlackBerry App World

Instructions in the program not that clear but there is a wiki here to help http://playbookwiki.org/index.php/BASIC

When you install you get a few demos installed, and currently 30 more available listed at the end of the wiki page.

I've played with it a little bit. It's really easy to write small programs to draw things and move them around. I like being able to make a change and see the results almost immediately. Much nicer than waiting for compiling and linking and loading.

Have to say, the BlackBerry Playbook was the absolute best in it's day. Still the best quality as far as build in any tablet I have ever owned.
