Any decent radio apps for 2.1?
Hi,
Has anyone a recommendation for a decent radio app? Some radio apps that I used to listen to do not work anymore since 2.1. Actually all I want is to listen to the streams from di.fm but all apps I find do not offer that stream or are horribly buggy, crash all the time, or do not work at all as they do not connect.
Thanks - 11-22-2012, 09:30 AM #2
Try TuneIn Radio at TuneIn: Listen to Online Radio, Music and Talk Stations. It works really well on my Bold 9900 and PlayBook!

Big second for nobex! Also there are a few great niche apps based on your location or your political views. Scrapps makes a conservative and a progressive radio stations app. Techfruits makes radio apps for about 20 major cities around the globe but mostly in the US and Canada.

Re: Any decent radio apps for 2.1?
Decent new radio apps specifically for 2.1? I'm not sure. Alhough, there are plenty of good ones already. I use nobex and slacker radio. As stated before, Nobex can connect to most stations.
Side note: Slacker is good for internet radio. With free version of slacker you can't skip more than 6 tracks, but not many people realize you can skip back and forth between a few good stations as much as you want and get the same effect as continuosly skipping songs. Another interesting thing about slacker free is you can search for unlisted radio stations, by genre for example, but it won't let you play your selection and asks you to upgrade. After you cancel that though, you can go to your recently played list and play the station from there. Seen the same thing on iOS too. - 11-27-2012, 09:14 AM #12
Although its not an app, but if you like trance, electronica, dub step and similar genres, you can now access Digitally Imported Internet streams via the Playbooks browser. They changed their website and added a flash player for their various streams a few weeks ago. It works quite well in the browser. Digitally Imported - addictive electronic music

Is there any way of setting a timer on Nobex so it switches off after a while for listening before sleep?

It does have a sleep timer on my 9700. No such love for the playbook. Every app should have a sleep timer by default, and every TV, DVD player, stereo etc.
Actually I wish I myself had a sleep timer!!!Win '98...Win7....?
