I was using a browser Android app and I hit a link of an app, and it redirect me App World, instead of starting the native browser and then redirect me to App World.

Why an Android app can redirect me to App World without starting the browser, although a native app can't?

Because Android recognises URLs starting with market:// as URLs of apps, and so will automatically launch (on an Android device) the Play Store. RIM must have reprogrammed that functionality to launch native App World. Developers who recognise this can use it to their advantage to launch App World to a specific app.

On the other hand, QNX will not recognise App World links straight away, as they are just regular URLs. So it launches them in the browser. The browser then recognises them and launches App World instead.

I agree it would be a bit more elegant if QNX just recognised App World links and launched App World instead of launching them in the browser first, though.

Maybe using another browser that allows "choosing its signature name" (like SimpleBrowser), so that you could announce yourself as e. g. Safari on OSX or whatever?
