Default Bell Introduces BlackBerry Unite to Canada!

Bell introduces BlackBerry Unite! to Canada

Free software keeps small businesses and families coordinated and connected

TORONTO, Ontario, May 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell today announced the
availability of BlackBerry(R) Unite!(TM) software for small businesses and
families to stay in touch, collaborate, keep organized and share content while
on the go. The new software from Research In Motion (RIM), a free download
that runs on a PC, provides small groups of up to five BlackBerry(R)
smartphone users with easy, mobile access to email, web browsing, a shared
calendar, shared contacts, pictures, documents, and other desktop computer
    content.

"Bell is happy to introduce BlackBerry Unite! software to Canada, further
enhancing the BlackBerry experience for small businesses, families, and
friends who wish to stay connected but don't have access to a centralized
mail/messaging server," said Adel Bazerghi, Vice President, Products for Bell
    Mobility.

"BlackBerry Unite! software extends the proven power and security of the
BlackBerry platform in a simplified package that is optimized for small groups
of people and easy to install in a home or small office," said Mark Guibert,
Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion.

BlackBerry Unite! software will allow groups of up to five BlackBerry smartphone users to:

    - Stay connected with wireless access to email - Enables easy, wireless
access to up to 10 supported email accounts (per user) with advanced
    security.

    - Share contacts - A centralized address book which integrates wirelessly
with BlackBerry smartphones provides each group member with ready
access to email addresses, phone numbers and other details for common
    contacts.

    - Coordinate schedules using a shared calendar - BlackBerry Unite!
includes a shared calendar feature that enables group members to
schedule or modify appointments, and send reminders.

    - Remotely access content on a centralized desktop PC - Users can
remotely download content to their BlackBerry smartphone(*) from the
centralized desktop PC that is running BlackBerry Unite!, including
pictures, music, documents and other files.

    - Share photos, documents and other files - BlackBerry Unite! group
members can share content from their BlackBerry smartphones with other
group members on the centralized desktop PC.

    - Remotely secure smartphones - Simple, centralized controls enable
powerful security features, such as password protection enforcement, or
the ability to wirelessly erase content from a lost or stolen
    smartphone.

    - Manage smartphone use - Customizable settings allow for centralized
control of smartphone uses for each individual, such as the ability to
restrict long distance calls by area code, or prevent access to the
    internet.

    - Protect smartphone content - Documents, pictures and other content
stored on a MicroSD card in a BlackBerry smartphone can be backed up
automatically over the air (via the Bell Mobility network) to the
    desktop PC.

    - Set up quickly and easily - The software is quick to download and easy
to install on a office or home PC.

    (*) requires a microSD card.

BlackBerry Unite! is available as of today for Bell customers to download
at bell.ca/unite. The software requires a data plan and minimum system
requirements apply. It is available at no extra charge for clients with
BlackBerry Email and Internet 25 and above rate plans from Bell.

wow..installed and liking it already. just to be able to browse your music or video library remotely.
word to the wise. careful what folders you choose to transfer. im still removing the 8000 mp3s that are trying to transfer. (it will transfer the music over when i plug it into the pc, not through the netowrk *whew*)

When I go to add user it keeps rejecting my personal info.

I am on TMO BIS plan, not sure why it wont take my email information.

    Anyone got any ideas?
(maybe its just too late in the night and I am missing the obvious)

it will add pop3 or imap accounts only, like a gmail or yahoo, not the blackberry.net email address.

Can someone tell me WHY now when I want to hit any bookmark for my BB brower it get the message “Brower is disabled by IT Policy.” This can’t be the intended behavior of Unite to no longer allow you to access your Blackberry bookmarks!

It seems that the IT policy that is pushed to the BB from Unite! is VERY restricted, for some reason, and theres no option to edit or rewrite the policy.

I had this issue last night. see below:

This is how to remove the eeeeeeeevil policy. cut and paste (remove spaces) the link below. everything you need is there. took me less than 20 minutes. I thought I had made a brick out of my BB. Wipes don't do the trick on 8830's. It baffled a Sprint engineer.
