    I still use an 8520.

It's CPU slow, it's only 2G, the display resolution is minimal, the browser can only be used to check for information that's displayed within the google results, there aren't many apps ...

..., however, for me typing is easier than on my PlayBook, Twitter works, packet tracking & tracing apps work, there are news apps, the RSS reader is ok, Evernote works, the music player is good, there's Shazam, and communication is simply great (E-Mail, texting, BBM, WhatsApp).

That's what you can expect from the 8500 series. I'll keep mine. I even replaced the housing with some cheap eBay parts after it was worn off and I also have a spare 8520 if it dies.

Oh and btw it's also a good phone with reasonable battery life.

Do they still let you active them? They no longer sell it. I would call them before aquiring one.

That's the only BlackBerry device Virgin Mobile USA offers and is why I dumped them a year ago because I wanted a new BlackBerry without a contract and going to Simple Mobile was my only choice.

FWIW, just quit my VM 8530 yesterday for a Straight Talk 9310, which runs on Verizon's network, and couldn't be happier with the decision. I can talk on my phone in my basement, now, the coverage is that much better. Plus, I'm paying the same $45 a month for unlimited calling vs. 1200 minutes. Very worth considering.

Thats cool. How is the BIS working for you? Some other people were saying that they had problems with it.
