Default AT&T International Tethering

Hi,
looking to tether on my BB9000 from abroad and not finding a solution. Thought about paying for the INTL Data plan with 200MB and the tethering xtra cost with ATT but still the tethering they would charge the INTL rate, so it'd be hugely expensive since I gotta use VPN and other heavy programs..any ideas? thought about renting an air card and be done with it.
What about getting the tetherberry or PDAnet as well as the INTL data plan - would this work without getting xtra charges from ATT for tethering?
Pls let me know any ideas you think might work...

Thought of unlocking your berry and getting a prepaid phone on your destination? It will almost surely be cheaper!
