Default does tethering use BIS?
I'd like to know because I'll probably be doing some tethering (through desktop manager) and would like to know how close I'll get to hitting my 1 gb plan

It uses your provider's data plan, so if you are buying 1GB of data per month, then that gets used for the tethering.
