Bis to Bes data transfer

My wife currently has vzw curve on BIS and just received ATT Curve on BES. The BES has been set up by corp for her email. She would like to transfer her contacts and calendar from the current BB to the new BB. If she does a BB switch through desktop manager, will it transfer the above things along with preferences etc... but not destroy the new BES settings? Would it be easier to take both devices to ATT and have them do a transfer via USB with NO desktop manager? Any help would be appreciated. thanks
