Default BES/BIS Server Issue . . .

Good Morning,

I'll try to make this brief, but I am having an issue with just one program on my Tour sync'ing with it's home website - and it has something to do with my employer's BIS server settings. I have no problem connecting to the internet, or our Novel GroupWise enterprise server for email/calendaring.

Let me 'splain . . .

I have purchased and installed HandyLogs Sugar for use on my Tour to track my blood sugar. As a diabetic, this is imperative. The program allows me to enter my blood sugar readings into my our, than "sync" them to the HandyLogs website to review and print as needed. I have been unable to sync to thier website since I purchased the program last week, continually getting an error message that simply stated "Sync Failed" etc.

Then, two nights ago, I upgrade my work-issued Tour to the new leaked OS 5.x.x.419, and of course I lost my connection with the BIS, which means I couldn't get my GroupWise email, calendar, etc. BUT, all of the sudden I could sync to the HandyLogs website and push the data across. And when our I.T. guy came in and reset my email and connection to the BIS, I lost the ability to sync again.

As a test, and with the I.T.'s knowledge (always a good thing since he has to redo what he just did), I did a complete wipe of my Tour last night, and reloaded HandyLogs Sugar, and was able to sync it up again right off the bat. No problems. Then we reset the email and BIS connection, and guess what. Lost the ability.

So we know it has something to do with the BIS, but as of this morning, no idea what.

My question to the experts here is - any ideas of where to start looking on the server? What settings we need to check?

Any ideas are appreciated - one of them is going to fix the issue.

You mentions BIS several times, but in the context you use it you must mean BES. It sounds as though your BES IT Policy applied to your device when you do the Enterprise Activation is preventing your sugar app from connecting to the handylogs website. You need to talk to your IT chap again and ask him to review your BES IT Policy.

Yea - it is a BES, I got schooled on that late yesterday afternoon (hey, I new to BB's - I was a Treo guy until a short while ago . . .). My direct I.T. guy is working with our County I.T. guy, and they are working with a Blackberry GroupWise Agent support guy, trying to figure this out. Everybody seems to have come to the same conclusion, it is a Security Policy issue, but that is where agreement ends.

I guess we are in a wait-and-see who figures out what soonest.
