Default App World? Is it necessary?

At this point the ONLY thing I can say positive about the appworld application is that it lets me know when a program needs updated. Every time I try to install anything on my ATT bold the process takes so long (after the download) that I sometimes do a battery pull. On a whim I let appworld upgrade slacker and the process (not including reboot) took 20 minutes. Wow.

Is this a waste of memory space? Should I just install OTA?

I haven't used AppWorld in months. I like the freed up mem, and I buy all my apps from the CB store, which is IMO far more convenient.

I think it's useless. Prove me wrong by finding a good SSH and IRC app through app world.
