Default Motorola Droid vs Nokia N900

Now Shipping: Nokia N900 | Skatter Tech

After the launch of the Motorola Droid, BlackBerry Storm2, and HTC Hero, another smartphone is about to hit the market. The Nokia N900, stands out from the rest by trying to offer a “PC-like experience.” Much of the ideology behind Nokia’s internet tablets is packed into the N900.

It all starts with the hardware. It’s shocking. With a 600MHz processor and 1GB of RAM, the phone resembles the configuration of a high end laptop just about 10 years ago. The 3.5 inch display packs 800 x 480 pixels, just a bit short of what the Droid offers. But it’s also has 32GB of on-board flash memory and even offers 16GB microSDHC card expansion. There’s also a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, HSPA 10Mbps, a FM Transmitter, and a microUSB data port.

Ive been browsing the Droid forum off and on, and it sure looks like a nice phone. They have had a few issues, but nothing like the Storm. I think I will give it 6 to 9 months and decide which phone will work best for me. Either way it sure looks like RIM is falling way behind.

That nokia blows the droid out of the water, though the 9700 has a 625mhz processor, but all in all the nokia900 I've been waiting on I've played with the droid and I'm not impressed, and the fact the nokia is a complete open source really has me and the multi tasking on it is one of a kind like its been said its not a phone its an internet tablet with the advantage of a phone on it.the thing is we all know it won't get the recognition it deserves because its not a device teens and kids will want.the thing is amazing I've been waiting for mine I pre ordered it and let me tell u if this phone lives up to the hype this could be the definition of an android iphone killer, and if one of the major carriers picks it up and doest butcher its capabilities ppl are gonna have to step their game up

It is no secret the Nokia makes the best and most powerful smart phones on the planet. I miss Norway and Europe in general mostly because I miss my Nokia... Symbian OS = Crowned King and that's no secret. 50 percent of the worlds smart phones = Symbian. And yes that's including North American numbers where they barely exist. Flash browsers, amazing hardware, excellent software.

I'm with you 100%! Seems like the US is stuck in this iPhone-like cult. If a phone isn't "cute or pretty" then it must automatically suck << The mentality a lot of users have in the US. I'm not bashing the iPhone (I had the original and the 3G the same day they were released) or Apple. I just feel that sometimes going with the underdog is far more rewarding than getting what everyone else has.

The great thing the Nokia N900 has going for it is the 100% open source (+ the uber loyal community that comes with it)

My N900 arrives on the 8th of December, i'll report back and give you my findings.

I still love my UMA enabled 8900 crackberry though. <<< That I WILL miss a lot (the UMA feature).

Some Nokia love
