Default HTC Touch Pro 2 opinions please!

So I'm thinking of buying a Vzw tp2.. I've read all the reviews I can find from reputable sources. All seemed to shine a good light on this device. However before I fork over the $ for it, I'd like to know first hand what you all think. Please give your opinions..good..bad it indifferent. Thanks!

Mine is on the way, I will post impressions here when I get it.

I currently have a BlackBerry Curve so this will be quite a bit different. I'm pretty excited though!

Well its def a good PPC.. If not one of the most customizable there is out there cause it runs winmo which was officially upgraded to 6.5.. You can do anything on it .. Battery life is good being that its a ppc and the call quality is good. Sometimes the callers might sound a bit tiny but clear. If you go to ppcgeeks , you can throw some custom rom or make your own, so its uniqe it will only have what you want.. before getting the droid I was debating on the TP2 but after I got tired of the Droid I got the storm 2. but the TP2 still calls me . as for apps there are many many apps which are usefull by the way.. Your gonna love it.. email, texting, browsing on Opera mobile ( not mini) is sick also you got skyfire which has Java enabled so that a extra perk.

I used to work for Nextel, then was bought by Sprint, and was then sold to Ericsson. 10 years, same desk, same job, 3 companies! Nice!

Sprint has decided to crush all employee BBs for those of us that were sent off to Ericcson. As a result my tour is gone and I am expecting a TP2 in the next few days.

I think it is cool that there is a TV out option, but I don't know how often I will acutally use it.

I have had mine since October. It has the best keyboard on any phone ever made. The screen is excellent. There are a lot of modifications that you can load to the phone to bring out more enjoyment and options. The software selection is the biggest disappointment. It's certainly a good phone to choose.

If you don't mind windows mobile then its a great way to go. It has good specs and runs the latest winmo 6.5. They say the screen resolution is fantastic. Of course nothing beats actually checking out the phone at the store.

I think that it looks like a beast of a phone. I have always liked the design of HTC devices. This one looks to be the best looking slider out right now. The specs are great. I'm just not a fan of WindowsMobile. If I were, this would be the phone to get. Also check out the LG expo. That device has similar specs and is compatible with a pico projector that is really cool.

I like the phone, as a former BB 8130 (Pearl) owner. The screen size and keyboard (nicely spaced keys) are a huge improvement from the Pearl.

As for WinMo, it had a fairly steep learning curve -- it took me about three days to get to know the basic ins and outs of the different settings on the phone. I've also improved the usability of the phone using SPB Mobile Shell, a couple of cabs and now it's running smoothly.

Besides the screen and the keyboard, I also like the fact that I no longer have to worry about Blackberry service outages. I got tired of the number of outages I've experienced over the last six months, so I switched. I need to be in email contact with work, so the outages were not a good thing (I was using BIS, not BES).

The downside to the phone is that it's heavy (to me, anyway).

Over all, I don't regret switch to the Touch Pro 2.

I've used it for a weekend now and here are my impressions:

I was a Blackberry Curve 8330 owner previously.

This phone is absolutely beautiful. Screen looks fantastic, device feels good in the hand (not too big, not too small), keyboard is the best I've ever used on a mobile device, fun to use, email sync with exchange is great!

I had some trouble with the touch screen at first, but am getting the hang of it. As mentioned earlier, WinMo has a steep learning curve IMO, and I'm an IT professional. But, after you get everything setup the way you want it, it's pretty awesome. Speakerphone/music on the device is amazing. YouTube worked flawlessly! I was very impressed with that. The lady friend and I sat in the car and watched some videos before we went out to eat - it was great to sit the phone on the dash, tilt the screen and watch!

I have 2 concerns and 1 gripe (possibly all fixable)

1) you do not get any type of holster or protective case with the device - I'm worried about how long the touch screen will actually work

2) The speaker to listen to phone calls is really quiet, even on the loudest setting

3) I cannot figure out how to add a custom notification sound for when I get an email/text. All that is in the list are the default sounds. It seems like the device is very customizable, but I'm still finding my way around.

Other than that, I'm very happy with the device and I'll continue to be happy as long as the phone or the screen do not die on me.
