Default HTC Touch Help and other Questions

Well, my aunt is about to upgrade to an HTC Hero and is leaving behind her ancient HTC Touch from the Sprint Network and is planning on giving it to me. It may not be much but any upgrade to any smartphone is worth leaving my sub par Voyager. What I have been wondering is will I be able to replace my Voyager with the HTC Touch. I am on Verizon and the phone is from Sprint so i am not sure.

I know for sure that both companies use CDMA so it should work but I am wondering are there any disadvatages to doing this? Will they bring up any problems with me doing that?

I also am wondering if I could just activate the phone online and deactivate the voyager all online instead of going to the store.

And finally, I am wondering are there any good forums or websites with good information on this kind of phone on the Internet? I love crackberry for the many tutorials, great tips and tricks section and the all-around help from the community. I will continue to come here, but I can't find another place like this that is more HTC phone orientated.

WMexpert, probably seen in the links at the way bottom of the screen, talk about Winmo phones.

But, being a Sprint customer for 10 plus years, I know you can change phones on the fly via their website, for free.

Its up to Verizon if they would flash a Sprint phone to their network, and obviously who you talk to, but i doubt they would. I assume these companies don't want to have a phone on their network branded from another company.

Hope that helps a bit.

Oh, ok Thanks for the help!

I discovered that when you log in to Verizon Wireless Online there is a button to activate your phone and replace your old phone, it requires you to give your ESN/MEID and says it is located in the back. Could i just use that to upgrade?

Well, that's with Sprint. I asked a rep and basically you can switch phones as many times as you want through the site -- sort of like changing sim cards on the GSM phones-- without charge.

Now, if you were going to theoretically FLASH a Sprint phone to Verizon (and that's IF you were able to convince someone to do it), I'm sure you wouldn't be able to do it through their website.

Yea you can do the switch phone thing on Verizon too apparently, but i guess not between the 2 companies.

I found that you can flash it with the Verizon ROM but it requires all this tweaking, i don't want to go through. I guess no smartphone for me yet
