Default HTC Hero questions

Hope this is the right place to place this. I have a few questions/issues that I need help with.

1: On the very top screen with all the notification icons and what not, the time is correct here. However, on my home screen, the time is an hour ahead. It shows my city and weather, but the time is incorrect. I am trying to figure out how to go about fixing this as I can't seem to find a solution. I have tried checking and unchecking the "Use network time zone" but it doesn't work. It's almost as if this home clock is off by a daylight savings option that I can't find.

2: How do I go about using music saved on my SD card as a ringtone for my contacts in my phone book? When I select ringtones under my contact, it just allows me to choose from the default ringtones on the phone.

Thank you,
Bowers

1. What clock widget are you using? This is a known issue with the small digital clock without the weather widget. Unfortunately as of yet no-one has been able to figure out. According to Sprint Tech Support this will be fixed in an upcoming update.

2. You should have a folder on your media card labeled "Ringtones," all your ringtones should be save to this file.

Hope this helped.

Sorry, pardon my noobness, but "Widget?"

I am just using the default stuff that came with the phone. The clock on the home screen with the weather.

Is their any work around or anything I can do to fix this, or just wait for the update?

Also, there is no folder on my SD Card labeled "Ringtones." Do I need to add it or something?

And one more thing, is their a way to be able to lock the phone with a numerical code instead of just sliding the screen down?

Thanks for all the help.

check youtube for Sprint HTC Hero. There are several reviews that explain the widget in regards to the phone. Think of it as a desktop enhancement program.

Wait for the update. Unfortunately, Sprint is behind on the 1.6 update release. Well, sprint and/or HTC. I've been burned by Sprint's inability to release updates before so I like blaming them any chance I can get.

Any further word on the "Ringtone" folder?

When I looked in the SD card area, there was no folder with that name. I did have one for music, but thats not working for me.

You can create one, I haven't figured out how to do it on the phone, but mount your phone to your PC and add a ringtone folder.

Ok well something here isn't working

I have created a folder called Ringtone and also Ringtones I put my .mp3 file in each of these, and when I go to my contacts to assign a ringtone, these files don't show up.

On the Blackberry Curve 8330, I just added the .mps to the SD card and then added them.

Is their a certain format that I need the music files in? What am I doing wrong that I cannot get my music to assign to contacts for a ringtone? (UUPDATE) I downloaded a program call "Ringdroid" that is allowing me to locate my music and save them as ringtones. So I don't know what it is I need to do to just be able to save the music file to my SD card and use it right away as a ringtone. Am I stuck just doing it with this program instead?

Also, I am wondering if their is a way to lock the phone using a numerical sequence like the iPHONE does? I don't mind dragging down on the screen, but I want to lock it in case I were to ever loose my phone. Then you would have to enter the passcode to unlock the phone.

Thanks,
Bowers

PS. Just for the record too, the weather/clock issue on my home screen has magically fixed itself. I looked today at work and both the clock in the tool bar on top of the screen as well as the big clock on the home screen now display the same exact time.

Just mentioning since someone else stated it was a known bug issue.

I'm a little curious about this myself, some of the widget clocks that I have tried to use are off by 4 hours on mine, and I've noticed that in the settings where you assign the time zone, that mine always defaults to GMT. And I live in N.C. I usually have it set on automatic, but if I uncheck it and try to set it to Eastern time, it always defaults back to GMT......so for now I just use the clock on the top of the toolbar.
