| | Has anyone switched from BlackBerry to Hero and is actually happy?
Was wondering if anyone made the switch from BlackBerry to Hero and is happy / satisfied etc... I tried searching the forums from my phone bit it always freezes so anyway what are the reasons you kept the Hero. Oh and is the battery really that bad compared to the Tour and I assume the Heros keyboard is decent for touch screen any help would be apreciated.

I switched from a Curve to an HTC Eris (Verizon version of the Hero) and i absolutely love it. No way I'm going back to blackberry. I get my push gmail and my yahoo mail pulls every hour (although you can have it pull much faster). I love the touchscreen, the keyboard, gorgeous screen quality, browsing is much better, and i love the customization that android/sense ui offers me.

I thought this was a trick question at first, lol. I switched to the Hero from a BB and would not consider going back, no way, no how. Its an amazing device, and I get 12-14 hours of battery life out of mine, and I don't cut corners. I run widgets, and have 7 pages full of shortcuts, and the phone is always in my hand. I do not use a task killer, and have opposed them from the beginning as Android manages itself just fine. I have never had a better smartphone, and I'm excited for 2.0!

I switched from a bb 8230 to the hero and love it.
Battery is ok but i keep a charger close by. I finally got it. to make it a full day on one charge. Customization is super sweet. I really really really love the browser. It took a few days to adjust to a touch screen but now i will never go back. I love android os way better than bb and i multitask alot on my hero. I definatly suggest and perfer hero over any bb

I don't have a Hero, but have been a big fan from afar since it was released. If you are a Google user and like touchscreen devices that offer customization, the Hero/Eris will be the device for you. I ave tried it in stores dozens of times. I think it is a great little device. I don't know about battery life, but from what I am hearing, you can get a full day's use out of it, which is pretty good for such a capable smartphone. As it is compared to BB, it has its pros and cons. The battery life on my Bold 9700 is about 2 and a half days with heavy use. Multitasking is easy. And the messaging system really doesn't have any worthy competitors right now. The Hero has a far better browser and better app selection. But if you don't have Google as your main setup, it seems like the Hero may pose some problems. If I'm wrong, let me know. I hear that the Hero will be getting an OS update which should bring about a lot of nice extras and full flash support is coming which would be awesome. So, to conclude, Hero sounds like a winner.

I have both a hero and a BB, and I can say that as soon as the Xperia X10 hits, the berry is gone. Android is much more of what I want out of a mobile OS.
Specifically for the Hero, my battery life is great, I average an 11 hour work day, and it's still got juice when I get home. And it gets more use than my berry does throughout the day. The on screen keyboard is really good on it (I'd rather type long things on my bold, but I'm not planning on writing a thesis on my mobile, so its not a big deal) And the autocorrect when typing is a dream. I can usually just type as fast as i can and get 99% of the words right. The only thing i really wish it had is a nice xenon flash
Oh yea, the other kicker is that speedtesting both side by side (bold on wi-fi, hero on normal CDMA) My hero is consistently around 2 times as fast or more... and I have to keep my Bold on EDGE to keep from dropping every call I get. (Curse you AT&T)

I am right in the middle of choosing a Storm 2 or a Hero and the biggest things for me are .. the camera flash, you could actually take pictures at night with the BB lol.
And reliability ... My previous HTC touch screen phone was not reliable, and I know BB phones are very reliable...
Do you guys think the Hero is reliable?
I am looking for the phone to last me like... 2 years, as it is a big investment.

Switched to Hero from Curve. Have rooted it, added new ROM, faster kernal and setcpu speed, it is a great little device allowing you, the user, more control over apps and looks than BB will ever.

I just. made the switch today. So far so good. I really like the customization of the Hero. I really feel like this is my phone. I have some questions about closing out of applications, I haven't been able to figure out actually how to do it. I haven't read the manual yet eitherso I guess I will figure it out. Tomorrow is my first day at work with it so I will see how It goes. I like the Google sync and theatres book is really nicely done. Will let you all know after tomorrow.

SO HAPPY I SWITCHED!
Had the Tour for a few weeks. Really wanted to love it, but the magic just wasn't there. I really hated the SLOW BB native browser. I realized that I don't care if I get my emails a few minutes later.
I'm trying to think of something I really miss about The Berry...
Now I have a Hero! So much better for me. The browser is so much better! SO MUCH FASTER!!! I love that it can render the pages like on my pc. I don't have any problems with the battery life and I'm always playing with my phone. The Hero has 6 screens that you can customize. You can even create your own 'themes' and switch back and forth between them. I don't miss the full keyboard like I was afraid I would. Ok, I do miss camera flash. I DO NOT MISS BATTERY PULLS!!!
Bottom line I am happy I switched.

I just switched back from the Hero to the Tour. The Hero was a nice phone but it has limitations when it comes to messaging and other little functions. I just like my BlackBerry better. If the messaging system was better, I would have kept it, but the virtual keyboard wasn't that great. I made so many mistakes. I tried using the compact qwerty keyboard, but that didn't really work either. If you are trying to type within a web page the phone really crawls. After a while, the phone stopped being cool and became frustrating. I liked the web browser. I really liked some of the applications like Foot Prints and how Facebook, twitter and Google are integrated. This is going to sound funny, but I couldn't stand the little Android man on my device either.
