| | finally the iphone killer is here
the real iphone killer has finally reared its ugly head its name is the hd 2, and it looks amazing, and if you ever wanted an iphone although some will never admit it, you should probably go ahead and skip on over to this device. my biggest question is whats the battery like? Does HTC HD2 have what it takes to challenge iPhone? (1) - IBTimes

I agree. The specs and capabilities will kill the iPhone! But HTC better spend as much money as Apple does in promoting the iPhone.

Killer? Never. I dont think anyone can compete with the apps that the Iphone can offer, and simply no one can compete with the name. Sad but true.

Killer? Not with windows mobile!! Too many flaws, and not a reliable OS. My 2 cents.

IMO the I phone's popularity has nothing to do with "how great the device" is (I personally don't think that), but how well apple markets the phone. Any company could sell tons of units of a product no matter how good or bad it is if they spend the proper amount of money on advertising to properly market the device. Heck RIM sold millions of S1 units in a short amount of time when it first came to market despite all the bugs, because of successful marketing. If HTC does not market the hd 2 properly , like apple did and still does, then it will just fizzle out.

There is a higher probability that something is wrong with you and NOT your new 9700!!! The sooner you accept that reality, the happier you will be.

The specs kill the iPhone, that's about it. You are forgetting about the apps, stable OS and ease of use of the OS compared to WM. Let's see if this thing can sell over 1 million plus devices in the first weekend, then we may have a competitor (for the "iPhone killer" title that is).

The iphone kinda cheats in the stability department by disabling true multitasking...
It won't kill the iphone in any way because of the app store + marketing (mostly social marketing).

It won't kill the iphone in any way because of the app store + marketing (mostly social marketing). | Just no third party multitasking. Even when you jailbreak and download backgrounder to multitask third party apps it is still very stable. But yes, the app store and marketing will not allow for it to kill the iPhone.

The iPhone's probably not going to be "killed" however it may be surpassed in virtually all areas by other devices. Even if it's not the best it will be popular for some time regardless of better devices being available. There is no iPhone killer. It's a myth; a legend that will never come to pass.

By a milestone, it might have some impressive specs but its not killing the iPhone.

I forget how long it's been, maybe more than that). Especially considering the main draw of the iPhone are the 3rd party apps + app store...

What people are forgetting is that you get the iPhone experience when you get the device. All of the applications, movies, music, podcasts, etc. Plus the device is stellar. I'm thinking that there won't be a rival to the iPhone for quite some time. Unless another smartphone manufacturer can duplicate the experience, the devices will fail to unearth the iPhone from it's top spot among touchscreen devices. If there was a device though, the HTC HD2 looks like a good candidate.

Even if another phone offered a better experience, it would not match the iphone because of the stupid social marketing.
