can you use a Sidekick on a BB plan?

I am going on a trip soon to someplace I'd rather not take my BB and risk it. I wasn't able to get a BB flip in time so I thibk I'll go with a cheap Sidekick. Haven't decided on what one it'll be.

Anyway, can I switch the APN settings and use it with my grandfathered BB plan? Since I plan to switch back to BB?

in australia the sidekick is called a hiptop. and they come locked to the SIM card. so the phone will only take the SIM card it came with, and the SIM wont work in any other phone. if this is the same for you in the US then i would say no it wont work.

but if this isnt the case then it should work for you... i would think.
i guess just put it in the sidekick, or any phone really, and see if it works.

I doubt it. You'd be further ahead just grabbing a cheap PAY AS YOU GO phone.

No it won't work. Just trade your bb plan for the sidekick internet for however long you're gone. Where are you going that you can't take your bb?

Nah you can't, just like a BB with a BB data plan a SK requires the SK plan to work...

I think the OP's concern is he is on a grandfathered plan and would lose it if he switched.

You'd be better off buying a cheap TMo pay as you go phone at WalMart or Target or something like that, and using your sim card in it. But it won't have internet.
