The best reader? Kindle, Nook?

What is the best non BB reader, Kindle, Nook? I am not at all familiar with these devices and I would like to get my wife one for Xmas. It should be a reader as well as have internet connectivity. Since this is the only hardware related forum I visit, I figured I would ask here.

Bump, no replies? Did some research and ordered the Kindle Fire, seemed to be the best reader with additional abilities.

If you're looking for a dedicated e-ink reader, I suggest the nook simpletouch.

Screen quality across all similar devices are the same as they all share the same technology, so the difference is in hardware (the nook has soft, grippy material and bezels around the screen) and software (nook runs a dialed-back version of android, and is rootable if you want to access email, apps, etc)

I already got the Kindle Fire, and it has web and FB, it is for my wife and she is not all that techy, so it will be just fine for her, and she can use the browser for email.
