Default Virgin Mobile USA giving up on the 8530?

I just checked the VM website. It no longer sells the 8530. They kept the LG Rumor line of phones but not my beloved BB. What gives? I like VM but I'm not crazy about android. Hopefully they'll add a new BB model in January.

You know what? I got my phone a month ago, and soon after that, I noticed it was gone as well. I had to order it online because none of the stores in my area sold the Curve. I must have gotten one of the last ones (phew!).
I would assume that they are going to come out with a new BB then... honestly this Curve kicks **** and I am good with it for awhile.

Scratch that! I was digging around on the Virgin Mobile Facebook page, they commented on a post and said "Plus, the Blackberry 8530 is longer going to be on the Virgin Mobile website." That was 12 hours ago. Hopefully something is currently in the oven!
Walmart is still selling it, online, though. Virgin Mobile BlackBerry 8530 Prepaid Cell Phone

As I've said before, my guess on the next Blackberry Virgin US will get is the 9330.
I'd be quite surprised if they got the 9350.

You are right californiablackberry - the next generation Curve is coming soon! This neat, little monster should be the model VMUSA should be receiving: http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop...dt_phones&ptn=

But you know, the previous Curve (8530) is one durable and reliable little tool. Dropped it so many times already and there are still no problems (I do have a case though...lol). Plus the $55 a month for unlimited everything is just amazing!

Long live VMUSA!!!

What model is it? I can't see anything when I click on the link
I hope they do end up getting some more models, we need more BlackBerry choices on VM.

Hi,

Here is what someone said on another forum, "I recently spoken with the VM CSR, and she mentioned that she was informed that VM will get a new line (more than one) of latest Blackberries sometime in Mid 2012. Kinda unbelieveable...but we'll see in time... " I hope this is true, that would be really neat. I need a new phone by Feb. 2012 though. I might get the cheap Berry from Walmart, then upgrade when this comes out.

That sounds really cool actually. I had to switch off of VMUSA because of reception issues. However, if they were good in my area, I would have loved to see what kind of BBs they'd be getting

Blackberry 9350: BlackBerry - New BlackBerry Curve 9350 9360 9370 Sleek Smartphones - US

I also talked with a VMUSA rep and he did say that they expect new Blackberries around summer 2012. By the way he was talking, it seems that more than one model might be added...(Blackberry Curve Touch!!!)

This is great news! I just got the Curve 8530 only a couple of months ago, so I need to wait and save up before I can get a newer Blackberry. In all honesty, this 8530 kicks **** and I am going to try to hang onto it as long as I can.

Great news! If it's true and I'm hoping it is, I'm gonna start saving up a few bucks so that by the time the new models are on VMUSA I'll be able to get one! Thanks for the heads up!

Just picked up an 8350 from Walmart for $99.

I'm mainly test driving it to decide what I'll do in September when my Nextel contract expires. I've had just about enough with my i1, bad coverage (in the city, because as soon as I go offroading it seems to work great), bad battery life and slow data (which I knew about before getting it, but my data seems to work at near-2G speeds in Mexico, but like 28.8K in the US), plus I don't use the radio that much either.

The downside, heading to Mexico tomorrow, so back to the Android for 3 weeks.

I'm really confused now. VM takes the 8530 off their website a couple of months ago and just today I noticed it's back on the website. Does anybody know what's going on? Don't get me wrong...I'm glad to see VM is still supporting my 8530.

I think VM is clearing their last inventories for the next generation Curve, as RIM has already ceased production on the 8530.
