Default Virgin BB Curve...Still cant get pic messages!!!

I was hoping someone could help me. I have a Blackberry 8530 on Virgin and since I got it 20 days ago I have never been able to receive picture messages. I have called customer care multiple times and each time I am told it has been escalated to "corporate". Nothing ever happens. The techs have assured me on multiple ocassions that it would be resolved in 24 hours. I have updated my profile and done all that they asked. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Should I just wipe the phone and reinstall the OS?

Hey beli, it is most certainly a problem on their end and not yours. I had the same problem with bell and had to talk with technicians to resolve it. It was an account problem.

Good luck with getting it resolved!

mms is carrier side, please call them and make sure MMS is active on your account.
Also ask them what their MMS size limit is, as this can sometimes be an issue.

I was under the impression that Blackberries on Virgin Mobile USA didn't have MMS picture messaging.

Personally, I would switch phone companies. I was on the VMU's network for quite sometime and their service is horrendous (both network and customer). I am on Sprint now, however, if you need to go with the prepaid route, Boost Mobile gets more share of Sprint's network than VMU does. So I'd say you should switch to Boost.

I was anticipating going with VM USA. What was it that turned you off the most about their service?

Virgin and Boost are both owned by Sprint. Hence, both use Sprint's network, so it's a bit odd that you had network troubles with Virgin, but not with Sprint. Also Virgin uses Sprint's newer, bigger PCS network and while Boost also uses this, they primarily use the older, Nextel network.

Customer service, from my experience, is more than adequate. While they seem to lack a bit of knowledge on some Blackberry matters (e.g. BIS vs BES), they have been more than helpful in where it counts (e.g. phone activation, account settings, etc).
