Default Sending my ATT 9700 bold to my uncle in Canada. What providers can he use?

I got myself an iphone 4 so I am unlocking my 9700 and sending it to my uncle in Toronto. What providers can he use and retain full functionality? 3G would be great if available. I know different companies use different frequencies. Att uses gsm and I know Rogers does too but wasn't sure on the others. TIA

Rogers and Fido I believe is all that use gsm in Canada, other I dont know. fido is owned by Rogers though so is the same anyway. I like fido better because you get fido dollars. when my friend had her contract up, she had enough fido dollars to buy all but $10 of her new phone.

AFAIK, the Bold 9700 works on GSM and HSPA. Rogers and Fido are GSM and Telus and Bell are HSPA, so really he could go with any of the top 4 carriers in Canada.

I know different carriers use different frequencies for 3G also. Do all these companies use same frequencies as AT&T?

Yes they do. The only one different is WIND (aside from CDMA carriers like SaskTel or MTS)

Sweet thank you all! Gonna put in the original 2 gb memory card and get all my info off the phone and ship out tomorrow. He's off contract so now he can upgrade and not have to pay anything plus have the option of going to a different phone later on if he so chooses.
