Arrow Rogers 9800 on Telus network

My 9700 is in rough shape and I have my eye on an almost new Rogers Torch at a good price. I'm on the Telus HSPA network (with a SIM card).

Will my Telus SIM card work in the Rogers Torch? I'm still in a contract with Telus.

I've heard about "unlocking" but not sure what this means/requires.

Thanks!

A Rogers-branded 9800 will work on the Telus network if it is unlocked. Unlocking allows a device to be used on other GSM carriers' networks beside the network the device is branded to. Any 3G BlackBerry from Rogers will work on Telus, but none of Rogers 2G (EDGE) devices will work, since Telus does not have a 2G (EDGE) network.

Unlocking requires either a MEP2 or MEP4 code. These can be purchased from an unlocker or won from a contest from these forums.

If you are to buy it I recommend cellunlock or feethisberry. Both quick and reliable with decent pricing.

Also there is freemyberry.com which offers free unlock codes, but I cannot 100% guarantee that your IMEI will be safe from cloning or anything else. Cause usually nothing in this real world is free
