I just ran the trial version of tetherberry and it works beautifully. Decent speed, and no hassle with the software. Open app, plug in your bb and your good to go.

...Now here is the real question. Seeing as how this is against the terms of use, at what point will they notice? How much data use is safe?

Buddha ,where did you see this is against their TOS . Because i was about to search the metro and boost site for such info but thought to my self these are the first smart phones these guys get plus first devices capable of such a thing .I suspect if enough people use this it will really jam the networks signal as i think they aren't prepared for this type of data. Or maybe it will just be picked up by them as regular data usage ,i don't know. But im not about to run a risk i need to find out if this is a go or no go.

Its what I figured. I didn't think they would go with tethering because it would probally slow their system down. I wouldn't do it simply because it do not want to be on their black list and then have to resort to the high yearly contracts and other such things of non pre paid carriers.

Default Blackberry 8330 .on Metro tethered as a modem...

Yes this works. Very simply. I have metro pcs and am using my bb as my modem to upload this post. No it is not as fast as DSL/Cable internet... but it does work. I am using the BlackBerry Desktop Software and Windows 7. But the software says it works with XP and Vista as well.

Step 1- Download the blackberry desktop software.

Step 2- Click on the "Mobile Internet" at the lower left corner of the desktop software, or go to "Mobile Internet Settings" under the "Tools" menu.

Step 3- "Add Custom Profile" (I named mine Metro PCS)

Step 4- Username: "yournumber"@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs
Access Point: wap.metropcs.net

Step 5- Click "OK"

Step 6- Click on the "Mobile Internet" icon in the lower left hand corner of the desktop screen.

Step 7- Enjoy the internet wherever you get cell phone service. It is only dial-up speeds... but when you are in the middle of nowhere or don't want to pay for internet access... it is a great thing. Enjoy!!!
