| | Sort of an experiment.
So, when I last spoke with a Metro PCS rep, he explained to me that the BlackBerry was sort of an experiment to see how this type of smart phone would work on the MPCS network and how it would sell. The contract, as I understand it, was for a limited time so it is not currently known whether or not BlackBerry devices will be offered by Metro in the future. I do know that a Samsung WinMo phone called the Code will be coming out VERY soon on Metro - It looks a little like the Ace. I am really hoping that RIM and Metro do more business. I got really excited when RIM was trying to buy Nortel because Nortel has a big investment in LTE development, and which North American regional carrier will be going live with an LTE network in 2010??? You guessed it, Metro PCS!!! In fact I get a little dizzy with excitement when I consider the prospect of a Metro LTE Blackberry device - think of the download speeds people!!! Anyway - I bug the Metro rep for info every time he comes in to the store I work at, so if I get any new info I will post it here.

I want to know where you got your information, because I'm a bit skeptical. Don't take your phone ouside your main city; until you get to another large city, you're kind of SOL with coverage. And LTE is a bit large of a big-boy toy for MetroPCS to handle.
I tend to let a baby use a sippy cup to drink from before a regular cup. MetroPCS is the sippy cup. I don't see them getting big-boy cups any time soon.

Naaw, it's the keyboard here at work. I don't know why, it's one of those super-quiet Lenovo keyboards, but I think it's got some keyboard problems.
It's my 'l', 'o', and 't' keys, mostly. You'll know when I'm on my phone posting - you won't see my signature, and a line about being on the mobile version of the site.
I'll definitely look up the LTE version of MetroPCS. It was my understanding that they run off Sprint's towers, and I thought Sprint wasn't getting it until a few more years down the road? Hmmm. Something to wonder.

| | MetroPCS Wants to Deploy LTE in 2010
They say they "want" to deploy it, but have no current timeframes and sound as though they don't know what they want to do really. There's only 14 markets (meaning: cities) where they're even 3G, and so they don't know where they're going to put it up at. That's evidenced by the "we're nimble" comment by the CEO. They're not even sure what they want to do regarding data cards, air cards, and they're trying to get RIM smartphones on their network. My guess? Good luck MetroPCS. Don't get smacked too hard.

I only dropped 1 call with metro in the last year, I travel from state to state. Maybe I am lucky?? anyways have a nice day.

MetroPCS does NOT use Verizon's towers, they have their own.
Their service is horrible in doors, and really spotty in my area.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | They only time you will be on Verizon's network, is when you are in the "Travel Talk" areas.
MetroPCS' main raoming partner is Sprint.
