Going from Contract to no Contract; keep my number?

Hello! I am going to be cancelling my contract with Sprint for Virgin Mobile. MUCH more affordable. If I were to go to Best Buy, or Walmart, which have Sprint and Virgin Mobile, would they be able to cancel my contract with Sprint and would I be able to start up with VM and be able to keep my same number? I would hate to lose my number, I have had the same number for years!

No worries! I found out that as long as I don't cancel my Sprint contract first, they will be able to port my number out and that way I can keep the same number!
