Question Flashed to Cricket -BB 8530 Curve- i got questions

i was referred to this website because i was told i can find a lot of info on blackberry's. I just purchased a new Verizon blackberry curve 8530. I had it flashed to cricket. i found out that i cannot use the app for Google maps because i am not using the "native" network of the phone. So, what can i do in order to download apps? or am i pretty much screwed? i also tried to download ring tones from a 3rd party. They sent a text with a link and that's how i am suppose to download it. I get a prompt saying that i need to set up my wifi and that this link needs a data package. i have my phone fully flashed and i can browse the internet just fine. Any tips, advice, suggestions is very much appreciated.

How did you flash it? Did you pay someone to do it, bring it to a Cricket store, or did you do it yourself?

Look on craigslist for the pros who say that can truly unlock it. If you can't find any in your area, check out Metro Unlocked, where you can unlock your cell phone today.... Those people might be able to help, I'd call them. MetroPCS and Cricket are pretty much the same.

Check the wifi forums and see the apps that normally use BIS, and download the user approved apps that work on your phone.
You can download other apps like CaptureIt, Student Docket, Color ID Lite, etc easily because they don't use data.

Beyond411 is a wifi apps and it has maps.

I have a fully flashed BB pearl 8130 with Cricket. I have pushed email (through Shangmail) Instant message ( through IM+) and MMS, SMS as well as full web. I can use lots of apps you just need to use a proxy. I recommend you check out howardforums.com

Did you get the new 8530 through cricket or are you going to flash that one too? I know cricket's getting BB's in the near future. Are they already available?
