Default Changing a phone number with Bell *Bold 9700*

G'day,

Changed my phone number from an Ontario to an Alberta number tonight.

Perhaps I missed the instructions fully, but I DID get the confirmation email, with NO effective dates on it. I assume that means immediately, as I didn't set an effective date in the future.

How do I tell if the number has changed?

In my options menu, under SIM Card, it still says the number is the ontario version.

Wondering if I missed a step after the number change....is there something I have to do on the actual Blackberry?

Thanks in Advance,

Aaron B

Hmm - a SIM card is only good for one number - so if you changed your number - you should have to pick up a new SIM. Your current SIM will always have the current number 'burned' into it. To change numbers - you need to obtain a brand new SIM with the new number on it. Call Bell.

i've changed numbers 3 times with my old 'dumbphone' before, with the same sim card. and i've changed my number from edmonton to calgary using the same simcard recently too.
that being said, i guess the foolproof way to find out what your current number is is to call a home phone or another cellphone?

Yes usually phone number changes take effect immediately, however usually takes about 4 hours for it to process through the system. You can call your Alberta number from another phone and see if it reaches your cell, if it doesn't then the change hasn't happened.

The number listed as My Number on the Blackberry will not change unless you pick up a new SIM card it will remain the same. SIM cards will record the first number provisioned onto it permanently.

Sorry for not updating this. Seems to have taken about 4 hours....all was good. Then I sent out a new text from my new number without my name.... real smart move, I spent the next 2 days explaining myself to 150 people.
