Default Boost 8330 Questions

Im interested in the new Boost Blackberry deal. Ive had both a Nextel 8350i and a Verizon curve. I was disapointed with the 8350i Nextel version. It just wasnt comparable to the Verizon version. Im pretty sure it was because it (Nextel) didnt use a 3g network? Im under the impression that the new 8330 from boost uses Sprints network which I beleive is close to Verizons and no doubt superior to Nextels.
I guess my question is does the somewhat new boost 8330 have voice, text, email and on line use more similar to a Verizon blackberry than to the Nextel version? I realize the direct connect option is not available with the 8330.
I had been plannig to try to get back to Verizon and get a new Tour but I may be better off staying with Boost (have regular boost phone now) and getting a curve 8330.
How do people like the 8330 on Boost?

This being my first BlackBerry, I have nothing to compare it to. As far comparing it to my old phone(i880 on Boost), there is no compairson. Being on a 3G network makes all the difference.

Are you able to do everything (email, Internet,) someone with an 8330 on Sprint could do? Is the phone limited at all by the Boost network?

@mopcas - I have heard of people buying a CDMA Boost phone to start service, then switching their phones to a Sprint-branded one. No first hand experience with this.

@antcapo1 - This phone runs on Boost CDMA service, which is basically Sprint prepaid. All the features are there(BBM, BB Apps, SMS & MMS, internet, etc). It is a huge step up from Boost's iDen(walkie-talkie) service, which is what my old phone was.

Yes, this is a huge step up from normal Boost service. I figured (and was hoping) that this was only a matter of time (Blackberry service on a prepaid carrier). Paying over $200 for an older model Curve (8330) isn't the greatest but it's worth it. I had the Verizon version a while back and thought it was great. Im going to buy one within a few weeks.

I got mine Friday and I am extatic with it! In-store activation and all BB functions fired up and ran perfectly out of the box. Its on the Sprint network so very good coverage and signal. It slices...it dices....it makes Juleane fries!

I previously used an 8900 and a 9000 when overseas (UK), and while the 8330 lacks the speed and polish of those two, it's certainly quite a capable BlackBerry.

The monthly service cost is a little steep though -- unless you're absolutely positive you need the unlimited minutes/texts/etc., I'd recommend taking a look at Virgin Mobile's offering, as it's nearly half the monthly cost and allows you to use the (newer) 8530.

The 8330 and 8530 will not work overseas. They are CDMA only, and only use Sprint's towers on Boost or Virgin, respectively. You can't even roam on VZW. If you can't get Sprint coverage, you get NO coverage.

If ever interested in a better, newer BB Curve with a lower monthly plan, look at Virgin Mobile. Their startup service is as low as $35 a month with unlimited text and data and 300 minutes.

Just got my Boost 8330 today. So far everything is good, except Youtube videos being laggy as ****, might be a reception issue. Will try again when I have a strong signal. Tried working a 8320 on AT&T prepaid plan, but AT&T sucks for BBs unless you have a contract. $60 a month for the plan is a great selling point. The unlimited BB plan from Virgin is $70.

Its only $35, unlimited everything besides the 300 minutes, which is good enough.
