Default Bold 9650 on MetroPCS or Virgin Mobile

I think the subject says it all... is it possible to get and use a 9650 on either Metro PCS or Virgin Mobile? I'm pretty fed up with paying 150/month for 2 lines with AT&T (and that's with a 20% discount), and I'll jump ship... but I can't jump down to a curve.

So, anyone have any ideas/experience? Speak up!

you can flash the 9650 over to MetroPCS (fees will vary anywhere from free to $40).BUT also depending on who does it you might lose sms/mms.you wont have BIS/BES,BB app world or BBM.AND you most apps wont work or be problematic. i was with Metro for 5years and flashed my bold 3 different times & finally just went to sprint.hope this helps & goodluck

If I am not mistaken, a 9650 can use GSM as well, correct? You may want to consider Simple Mobile. They use T-Mobile's network: SIMPLE Mobile | Unlimited Cell Phone Plans

They have a BIS "unlimited everything" plan for $50 a month.

9650 will NOT use usa version of gsm. only gsm overseas. you'll be able to use the phone as a phone, but other services won't work as expected.

Virgin Mobile requires you to use their phones, as they secure the VMUSA SIM card to the device which makes it difficult (if not downright impossible) to remove the SIM card and limits your resale options.

The 9650 is not listed as an approved device by Simple Mobile, but that does not necessarily mean it wouldn't work on their network (but they cannot officially provide tech support for it):

If you go for Simple Mobile, buy an unlocked 9780.
