Will the Palm Pre operate the BES?
Read this link... I'd be curious to know any thoughts.
I'm a blackberry gal because of my business, they will only use the BES for email exchange (won't use pop3 or imap, etc).
However... this looks pretty promising if I do say so! It's always good to have options. I had a treo a few years back, but I'm not a fan of Sprint/Nextel (Please hold while the person you are calling is located, all day - then threw everyone into voicemail, without notifying me for hours later! NOT GOOD!)... so I don't know if it was palm or the provider. And honestly, not looking to get into a battle. Service might've improved since then.
It's my fault if I got off topic... LOL! Just lemme know what you think of this:

If you primarily use it for business and do a lot of email, I doubt it would be that great of an option due to the cramped keyboard...
Also I don't think Palm smartphones means what you think it means in this case. Palm made WM + Palm OS phones. The Pre OS is an entirely different thing...
Why? Look here:
BlackBerry - PDA Smartphone - BlackBerry Palm OS Technology at BlackBerry.com
WM supported, Palm OS supported. Could change down the road, but...
Not only that but I believe BB Connect clients are being discontinued and replaced with something entirely different.Last edited by papped; 05-28-2009 at 08:31 PM.

it is a completely different operating system. the palm software is going to fade out so palm will use either windows mobile or this web os. it should sync to your exchange server, but until the device is launched, it is tough telling EXACTLY what its capabilities are. either way, Palm will have a solution whether it be web os or windows mobile.

Actually, there is a Palm OS emulator that they've been showing off for the Pre. I'd imagine it could probably run BB connect. I've no idea what kind of notifications, push email, calendar syncing or other capabilities it would have, but it certainly would appear to be possible.

I haven't used it yet but it does sync with exchange servers fully. I don't know the speed but I have to think it would be very similar.
Currently 4.7.0.148
UPDATE: Trying out the Palm Pre on Sprint.
