Default UK Orange PAYG BIS Down???

Hi

I have got my Blackberry today and phoned up Orange to activate the BIS and I was told the service was down and has been for over 4 weeks?????

They said it wasn't worth me activating it yet as the money would be taken straight away and I wouldn't have a service.

Can anyone confirm this is correct?

They told me to try again tomorrow

it was down today intermittently, but hasn't been down solid for the last 4 weeks as far as I'm aware and generally being on tech support I would have heard about that.

It was also down last week for a long period. Some people may well now come and say they've had no problems but it did affect 95% of internet users regardless of apn.

I'd say not entirely true!

Thanks for that, thankfully I am sorted now.

I phoned up twice during the day today and each time I got someone in India and they painted a very gloomy story of problems and issues with the Government and no fix in sight and suggested I read all about the issues in the news and online?!?!?!?!?!

I phoned again tonight and I got an English rep, he signed me up whilst I waited, my gprs turned to GPRS whilst he was on the phone and within a couple of hours I was fully up and running.

So there must be some very bad communication issues with the out of country call centres. Every other time I phoned I have got English reps and they have been really helpful & my experience tonight seems to conclude for me, that if you want anything sorted or correct information you need to have a UK based Rep

I wont comment on our offshore colleagues ;-)

Not entirely sure what you would have seen on the news etc either. There have been a lot of apn issues of late and just recently the blackberry.apn has been affected too. At the end of the day mate if you've signed up and dont get the service as much as it doesnt help in that period we would happily refund for loss of service in that period.

I am currently very pleased with the service I have received so far from Orange, apart from that blip yesterday
