Default Simple Mobile With Blackberry 9700

Just activated a new sim from simple mobile.
They don't have BIS "yet", but CS says they will be launching this month, we all know how that goes, but for now its working 99%.

What is working??
Blackberry Appworld
Gpsed
Opera mini/Bolt
Iheartradio
Pandora
Viigo
Weatherbug
Gmail App
Basically everything except the default browser.

Update: I can't send MMS at all. But everything else minus the default browser works as it should. And everywhere I had 3G with tmo, I have the same coverage with simplemobile

Another update. Tethering with DM works like a dream. You just have to set the access point to simple, and all is well. The website states emphatically that they do not support it, but it seems to be like tmo's stance on it. "hear no evil, see no evil"

There is nothing definitive written down.
I got mine working via trial and error.

What I can tell you is this.
TMO service books will work, so get the ones for the storm.
Go to options>>advanced options>>tcp/ip and set the apn to simple, leave the username and password blank.

I am still trying to get MMS to work, and am researching how to write/edit service books so that maybe I can get the default browser working as well.
I found the service books supposedly available for purchase on another forum, but I see this as a learning experience as well.

Alright i will look into it, i have an atnt curve 8520 you think tmo service books will help me? I have the atnt books and the tmo generic books on my phone.

Does your blackberry app world time out on wifi connection? error 10003 or something.

I was having some connectivity issues with appworld over wifi, but it works seamlessly with simplemobile.

Right on, im assuming my issues are related to me not having a data plan with Simple. I got the 40$ plan seeing that prices may change when they release BIS

I don't see the prices changing at all when they launch BIS.
Here's why.
T-mobile doesn't price differently for different phones, they include BIS as part of the package for blackberry owners.
And their only other prepaid competitor (boost) can do unlimited for 50$, so @ 60$ they shouldn't up the price at all.

I'm thinking the wifi issue with appworld was likely due to the upgrade to 2.0, and maybe an issue on RIMs server side. Because I have been using my 9700 on a TMO prepaid plan for 5 months now with no issues doing anything over wifi, I did have to buy wifix to force some apps to use wifi, but all was well.

It should, but that is a moot point until they launch BIS which they haven't yet.
And I am seriously considering going back to TMO as soon as they get the 9780.

Before one can tell you what your doing wrong, we need to know what you have done.

Have you changed the APN to simple?

Is your phone branded TMO or ATT? If its tmo, do you still have the tmobile service books on there?

BIS=Blackberry Internet Service. BIS routes traffic through RIMs servers. This uses your BBs pin as an identifier and allows the use of BBM, email, etc.

To answer yout first question more definitively, N0!!! BBM does not work with simple at the moment, you need BIS for that service.
