Default PAYG Blackberry services in the UK

Hi.

I've never used a blackbury before, but I'm about to inherit one: An 8300 Curve that was probably on an Orange business contract.

Firstly; is the 'phone likely to be locked? Is this easily dealt with?

Secondly: Is this actually a decent 'phone?! I've never bothered with a smartphone before, but figured it was about time that I got my act together and got a little more organised. Are the calendar, web browsing and email functions all decent?

Thirdly - and this is my main point - I'm currently on a PAYG deal with O2. I like it. I pay a tenner a month and I get some credit. It's simple, and I'm happy to pay that kind of money for a 'phone service. Does the O2 PAYG service support Blackberry? If it doesn't, what functionality will I be missing out on? Does anyone know of a service that I could move to and retain my number?

I don't really want a contract. They annoy me.

Many thanks in advance.

Can't answer Question 2

But 1 - is the phone branded, does it have a network logo on the phone?

Have you tried a different sim in the phone?

3 - Orange and T-Mobile do PAYG Blackberry services

Orange is £5 per month, not sure about T-mobile

o2 don't support Blackberry on PAYG

However if you call o2 and request your PAC, then you can transfer your number to a new number
