Default O2 and Free WIFI

I purchased my Bold via dialaphone last week, on their site they said free unlimited wifi, further information revealed the wifi was using the Cloud. On O2's website all new blackberry deals come with unlimited wifi.

However all is not as it seems, i was initially unable to access the cloud, i initially put this down to the fact that i had ported my number from my iphone which was already registered to the Cloud using the iphone wifi package that O2 provide. After many phone calls to O2 i am now being told that Blackberry devices do not have access to the cloud or indeed to BT Openzone, which is why i cannot access the site on my phone. When questioning members of staff about the O2 claim of free wifi they advertise i am being told that this means free wifi when at home connceted to your own router!! I have unsuccessfully argued that this is not an O2 service merely a feature of the phone.

My question is for other users does anyone have free wifi via the Cloud hotspots, i really dont know what to believe when speaking with O2, i get different answers every time, it seems that the initial customer services reps and indeed sales reps you speak to say you get the service only to be told different when they speak with the technical services team. My package is the blackberry data package with 300 minutes. Technical team have also said that even if i was prepared to pay a monthly fee for the wifi, there is no option / bolt on to do this.

O2 have told you the truth.

You can log in to any wireless AP to which you can gain access.

O2 provide a BlackBerry data plan which I assume you now have so you should be getting 3G in most parts of the UK.

I have more or less the same deal via my O2 SIMplicity 600 deal. I get 600 minutes a month, unlimited calls to landlines not starting with 08 or 09, all the SMSs I can eat and fair use unlimited blackberry.net internet.

I use my own WiFi when at home. Elswhere I get 3G or EDGE internet depending where I am.

Why would I need The Cloud? The Cloud does not provide BIS or blackberry.net so this would be an add-on at extra expense. O2 give this for free with any BlackBerry that takes the Internet Bolt-On.

Default blackberry 9300

O2 told me that my blackberry 9300 is not accredited. See email below.

As per your call to customer service today regarding the wifi issues you
are having. I can confirm that the handset you are using isn't
accredited by O2 for BT open zone or the cloud network.

the two handset that are accredited are the blackberry 8900 or 9700.

the o2 wifi offer is so weak, the security for this is your mobile number, i told my friends when they wanted to connect to enter my mobile number as the password and it worked for them all.

why would you want to use o2wifi?

The free BT Openzones or free BTFon wifi offer from o2 is pretty good. However logging in is a pain but as I have BT home broadband I can log in with those details also.

My Nexus One has the BT Fon wifi app which simplifies everything, come within range of BT Openzones and it connects automatically. They need to do an app for the BB.

As for The Cloud... That's reserved for iphone users it seems! I emailed The Cloud serveral times about this and they kept telling me how to set up on my iphone (!) until they finally acknowledged I had a BB and said sorry, iphone only.
