buying a new BB with O2 Czech Republic

So I'm thinking of going off on my own after working for a company that provided a BB for my work. They of course are on a Blackberry server and I've had the luxury of having instant updates to my calendar and contacts etc. Going on my own, I'll want a BB but don't know how to get all the bells and whistles. Any suggestions?

Also, when I travel, the bill at the end of the month is the same as when in country. I'm wondering if that's always the case with all BBs. (I don't mean making calls, just in coming and out going mail)
