Default Browser Doesn't Open, Do I Need a Bolt-On?

Hello>ALL

I was given a BB8520 by a mate, and was playing with it but can't quite work it out.

My SIM is on O2 PAYG but has no BB bolt-on. I can understand this may prevents me to use internet, but would it actually block me using browser??

When hit browser icon nothing happens.

I have not fully decided whether to keep using this phone or not, so rather be sure on this before spending any money on bolt-ons.

I have tried to set up 2 WiFi network, and BB is connected to it, but no browsing!

Please advise,

many thanks.

You need the BlackBerry Bolt On.

Thanks,
So once I get bolt on Browser starts working, then stops again when bolt-on not paid for?

I have an iPhone and have stopped paying for bolt-on (don't go on 3G, only use Wi-Fi), I guess BB is slightly different?

Your advice is hugely appreciated x

Yes. BlackBerry devices work differently from other devices.

If you stop paying for the BlackBerry Bolt On, the BlackBerry Data services (such as the browser) will stop working.

Thank you so much for the reply! It wasn't too clear on O2 web site, and other forums, seemed like some old BB worked on wifi without SIM in it!!
I guess I shan't be using this phone then...

Many thanks!!
