BIS service with China Unicom
just moved to shanghai a few days ago and am in the process of setting up the BIS service with China Unicom.
They really don't know what they are doing here! I was first told to go to a local shop to get a regular phone plan, after that, I can sign in online to subscribe to the bb service. Once I have done that, the service will be active in 3 hours. I did what I was told and after 4 hours, the service is still not active, so I called to inquire. this is where the nightmare began!!
CC told me that when I signed up, the person at the shop should have sent my IMSI# to the BB support first. when I sign up my bb service online, the Unicom staff will turn on the APN for me. so in 3 hours, both of these would be done and my service will be ready. of course, the person at the shop didn't do that! after a lot of run around, I was able to provide my IMSI to BB support. but that didn't solve the problem. I was told by BB support that china Unicom staff didn't set up APN for me. called back to Unicom staff, they said they did! long story short, I am still without BIS! Now they are investigating what went wrong.
can anyone help? for the service to go live, what needs to happen on the backend? I know my bb works. it was brand new when I got it and used it in hong kong for a 1 mth before moving here. I tried the register for the routing table...came back with nothing.
