Avoiding the O2 UK 50MB restriction while roaming and tethering
I have the old Unlimited Roaming plan which includes all data via WAP and Mobile APN's.
Since late last year O2 have started a 50MB restriction where you can't ordinarily use more than that using these APN's (considering said APN's are used by most other devices for data access) and as a result it is very difficult to exceed that amount. It is however possible but recently it has become more difficult and takes hours to make it work.
The typical scenario is after around 25-30s the connection drops in speed to a few bits/s, obviously being restricted. I was able to get around this by playing with the CID's, which on a Mac was easy to do.
Apart from using the Blackberry.net APN which would obviously be great does anyone have any ideas on how to contravene this restriction which essentially shouldn't affect me anyway. As O2 don't offer my plan anymore they say I'd have to lose this plan to have the 50MB restriction removed, moving to the 200MB version is also not possible for the same reason.
I appreciate your input(s).
