Default Z10 available in stock @Orange France

WARNING : so far I've been unable to unlock my Orange Z10 and it seems general, as BB has not yet released the "unlock keys/procedure/whatever".
Be very careful when you choose your seller, you might be sticked as I am right now.

    That's it !
€129 with subscription is a pretty good price tough

Edit : Notice also (and on the phone house site too), there is an incentive of €50 (probably sponsored by BlackBerry ?)

Don't want to flood with another FR specific thread, but I also noticed that the White Z10 is already SOLD OUT (while in pre-order) at the LDLC website.

This article says in France Z10 has a Snapdragon S4 Pro because it's modem has all required frequencies? Did they mean to say S4 Plus? No TI OMAP4470?

You are here: Home / IT Equipment / BlackBerry Z10: Qualcomm wand
Remained very discreet about the hardware of its new smartphones, the BlackBerry has retained a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro that supports 4G LTE in France.
Envoyer à un ami Send to a friend .
Focusing its communication on its new operating system, BlackBerry has remained very quiet on the hardware of its mobile phones.

Boning a rule model Z10 (100% touch) suggests a certain conservatism from the Canadian telecoms manufacturer, which capitalizes on solid values of the year 2012.

Top of the list, a processor Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960 SoC) already implemented in the first version of LTE Samsung Galaxy S3 and Windows Phone HTC 8X.

As emphasized Silicon . fr, it is not excluded that some markets have a right OMAP 4470 from Texas Instruments, away from the latest ARM SoC that Samsung, NVIDIA, ST-Ericsson, Qualcomm and Renesas have presented at the last CES .

First benefit of S4 Pro, it supports LTE through the integration of multi-mode baseband.

Ainsi, côté connectivité mobile, le Z10 est compatible avec les réseaux HSPA+ (2100, 850 et 900 MHz), mais aussi les bandes 3 (1800 MHz), 7 (2600 MHz), 8 (900 MHz) et 20 (700/800 MHz) de la 4G. So next mobile connectivity, the Z10 is compatible with HSPA + (2100, 850 and 900 MHz), but also bands 3 (1800 MHz), 7 (2600 MHz), 8 (900 MHz) and 20 (700/800 MHz) 4G.

So it will accommodate frequencies French, in this case 800 MHz and 2.6 GHz ... and possibly, eventually, the 1800 MHz spectrum currently used for GSM, but that could be a reversal ("refarming") when using the LTE.

Qualcomm is also involved in the management of power, with the PM8921 chip, also embedded in the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Samsung found as a supplier for the 2 GB LPDDR2 DRAM and 16 GB of flash memory MLC NAND gates.

A 1280 x 768 dots on the screen of 4.2 inches, the display resolution of 356 dpi reached. C'est supérieur à l'iPhone 5 (326 ppp), mais loin des téléphones 1080p (1920 x 1080) qui ont fleuri lors du CES 2013, au-delà des 400 ppp. It is superior to the iPhone 5 (326 dpi), but away from phones 1080p (1920 x 1080) that flourished at CES 2013, beyond 400 dpi.

    From official BlackBerry.fr site:

    Jusqu’à 4G LTE
    LTE quadribande 3, 7, 8, 20 (1 800/2 600/900/800 MHz)
    HSPA+ tribande 1, 5/6, 8 (2 100/850/900 MHz)
    Quadri-bande EDGE (850/900/1 800/1 900 MHz)

    From BB Canada:
    Up to 4G LTE
    Quad band LTE 2, 5, 4, 17 (700/850/1700/1900 MHz)
    Tri band HSPA+ 1, 2, 5/6 (850/1900/2100 MHz)
    Quad band HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, (850/1700/1900/2100 MHz)
    Quad band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

Can anyone tell from modem frequencies what chip that is?

Orange has it available for order online (just ordered mine). In stores they have posters up and were supposed to have the actual devices starting today but I've gone into multiple stores and got answers ranging from "by end of week" to "end of month". If you order online it's 3 days delivery and they're in stock now, but you have to mail back the signed contract so activating the line may take a bit longer.

Orange only has the black Z10.

Buoygues (Bouygues Telecom : téléphones et smartphones, forfaits mobiles et offres internet) has the Z10 showing up online as "Available soon", but the stores said "by end of month". The black is available to everyone and will be in stores, the white is "web only".

    I got the phone for 199€ + 50€ mail-in rebate I'll redeem now on just a 1-year contract. 5Gb/month bandwidth, unlimited calling for 75€/month.

I got mine for 540€ with 50€ mail-in rebate with a low-cost contract (Sosh by Orange). Ordered last Thursday and delivered this morning. It's time to play now!
And I'm also trying to attest than the review by Les Numériques - S'informer pour mieux acheter is totally not objective. It's a shame.

I'm living near the French border in Germany. It seems we have to wait another four weeks. Could I just walk into a Sosh or Orange shop and buy the Z10 without contract?

Is the phone locked to the Orange network or can I insert any SIM?

Does mail-in rebate mean the price is actually 589 € and I get 50 € back when I mail in some coupon? Can I mail from a address in Germany?

    Thanks

    Hi Tw,

No, it will be network locked and to be reimbursed of 50€, you need to be a sosh (There's no shop, it a web only low cost mobile operator from Orange) for two months.
And to be sosh subscriber, you need to reside in France.

    Sorry.

@tw_ I guess you have your answer. The only option should be to find the Z10 in Phone House shop when it will be available for 589€.
