Orange UK - Mobile Hotspot enabled
Has anyone got Mobile Hotspot working on an Orange UK phone?
When I attempt to enable it on my 9360 I get the following message:
"Activation Required. Click continue to subscribe to a Mobile Hotspot data plan using the browser on your smartphone or on a connected Wi-Fi device"
I then click on the "ok" and the hotspot disables itself.
I'm a pay monthly customer with a 500Mb data plan.
Thanks.Last edited by Wmsi; 07-24-2012 at 04:40 AM. Reason: typo

Welcome to Ripoff Britain! You didn't really think Orange would make it easy, did you? Hit their Customer Service help line and find out if they even allow the functionality without a billing error that takes months to not resolve

I did phone their helpline last night, and they tried to sell me an add on that would allow me to connect to any wi-fi hotspot "in Starbucks etc" (facepalm). The guy really did not understand me when I was saying "I want to turn my phone into a hotspot and connect other devices to it, such as my ereader and laptop". That's why I came on here to see if anyone had any ideas.

Sorry, I can't help you with that - my 9700 doesn't, but we have plenty of other users here who have reported success. A quick search with the keyword "hotspot" got me a load of hits in this forum. As far as I know it is linked to the exact software version, and for most service providers it probably requires the correct add-on to your base account.

I now have mobile hotspot enabled. I spoke to someone at Orange and they had to enable it. The only downside is that every time I use it, it will cost £1 that day, for 1g downloads. Super annoyed, because the guy that sits on the desk opposite me has an android phone on Orange, and he simply uses some of his 500mb allocated download. I have 500mb allocated download, but because Blackberry is "special", I have to pay for the privelage.
